Jerry Mathurin: A millionaire in the making
Jerry Mathurin, founder of A Millionaires Journal, is currently a student at Palm Beach Community College (Lake Worth, FL). He also provides high quality services as a Computer Tutor Specialist.
What is the name of your project?
The name of my project is A Millionaire’s Journal. http://www.amillionairesjournal.com/
How did it get started? How long did it take to launch it?
I started writing A Millionaire’s Journal when I was twenty-one years of age attending Florida A & M University at the time. On November 29, 2004 I had an epiphany. I told myself not only will I become successful, I will do what no one highly successful had ever done before; write a book (journal) of the process of becoming a millionaire before actually achieving my goal. I realized that many successful people wrote books after they "made it", but many of the struggles they dealt with were lost along the way.
My initial idea was to sell the pre-millionaire journal after I became successful. I wasn’t until December third 2006 while writing in my journal I came up with a more exciting way to achieve my goal: create a website, post my journal up, and sell advertisements thus making me a millionaire in the process!
The next day I started typing up the hand-written journal, editing, and revising it until it was perfect. The second step was to create and design the website. The third and final stage was to create the code into what it is today http://www.amillionairesjournal.com/. The website was first released November 15, 2007 into the world.
Where are you based?
My company is based in Lake Worth, Florida. This is actually my home hometown where I was born and raised by my Haiti-born and single mother.
What are the goals of your project?
The goals of this project include:
· Allowing potential readers the ability to take a look into the mind of a future successful entrepreneur.
· Giving advertisers the chance to be exposed by potentially millions of people, whether it be locally, nationally, or internationally.
· To raise money to donate to ten different charities
Do you feel that your project will be an inspiration to others?
Definitely! This project will show others that as long as one has a dream, perseverance, and strives for excellence in what he or she is doing, anything is possible. Within the eBook (my journey) I met with several successful millionaires, started two businesses, and most importantly worked with a millionaire. So after this project is successful my eBook will be a gift of inspiration for others to follow. Through my experiences many individuals (varying from college students to the most successful entrepreneur alive) will have the ability to achieve their goals and dreams.
Do you plan to expand to other business ventures upon completion of this project?
Yes, I’m currently working on another software company that I expect will change the world as we know it. I have completed the business plan for since 2005 and I plan on executing and releasing it once this project is successful.
What inspires your entrepreneurial spirit?
I believe that the entrepreneur mindset I have was something given to me at birth. I have always known in my mind that I had been destined to become a person of influence. I am developing this gift on a daily basis as I continue to venture in different business projects. My current vision is to help others in my journey to success, and to leave a legacy before my time on earth passes away.
My current drive is to ease my hard-working mother’s economic stress through my financial support. Being one of four children I feel that it is my duty to help mother in every way possible because she has done so much for me, and is the reason why I am where I am now.

Noah Hutton: Putting Professors on the Airwaves
Noah Hutton, a recently established radio DJ, brings perspective to the lives of professors on his college campus. He is a member of the class of 2009 at Wesleyan University.
What is the name of your radio show?
'The Faculty Lounge" on WESU
What training did you go through to become a radio host? How long did it take to launch the show?
I trained for one semester my freshman year at Wesleyan to become a DJ-- I then hosted a music show for 2 years before launching The Faculty Lounge this year along with my friend and fellow DJ Jeremy Finch, and I currently serve as the Vice President of the station.
Where is it based? How often do you air?
We're based in
What are the goals of your show?
The goal of the show is to highlight the scholarly work of Wesleyan professors, to talk about their books, and to engage in informal conversation. We sit down with a different professor every week for a one-on-one, NPR-styled interview. We then set aside a portion of the program for a recap of recent lectures, readings, and any other special events on the Wesleyan campus in the past week. In all, the point of the show is to generate a well-produced and interesting program that can appeal to listeners in the Wesleyan/Middletown arena and beyond. We hope to create podcasts that can be downloaded and perhaps syndicated on other radio stations.
What is an example discussion topic or what type of music genre does your show focus on?
Discussion is based on whatever aspect of a professor's work we want to highlight-- on our first program we had the director for the Center for African American Studies and Professor of Art History at
Do you plan to expand upon work within the radio broadcast industry after graduating or is this simply something for the college years?
I don't have a plan yet, but I'm enjoying it for now and I wouldn't mind if it continued.
What motivates you to work on an established project such as this when you've already got a busy schedule typical of any college student?
It feels great to provide a resource for both the University and the public at large that is, hopefully, both educational and entertaining. I enjoy working on the production end of things and am motivated to turn out the highest quality program possible every week. It seems just as important and worthwhile as any classwork I'm doing, so although it is time consuming, I look at it as an aspect of my time at college that I wouldn't sacrifice for anything else.
